Items to Check On The Outside of Your Home
When Getting Your Home Ready to Sell

  • Is the roof free and clear from branches and moss?
    • Are the gutters clean and in good shape?
    • Are the windows and storm doors clean?
    • Are bushes, trees, plants and shrubs neatly pruned? If you have overgrown bushes that can't be pruned, dig them up and replace them with a small bush or colorful flowers.
    • Is the garden bed free and clear of weeds?
    • Is the garden bed mulched?
    • Plant colorful annuals to brighten up the front yard. The front yard and the front of the house are the first impression buyers will have of your home.
    • Are there weeds and dandelions in your grass?
    • Be sure to clean up  grass clippings after mowing your grass.
    • Is the lawn neatly edged?
  • Fertilize your grass and  bring out the "green" of your lawn.
  • Do you need to power wash or paint the siding or window frames?
  • The front door is the first thing buyers see when they come to your home. Make sure it looks great!
  • Adding a wreath to the front door draws attention to your door.

Lastly, inspect your yard. Remove scrap wood, discarded household items, extra kids toys, etc. from the property. Store garbage cans in the garage. Make sure your yard sparkles!
